Our Mission

Heavy industry — oil & gas, manufacturing, chemicals, metals — accounts for the majority of global emissions and employs hundreds of millions of people. These sectors cannot be simply shut down. They must be transformed.

EcoIQ was built to accelerate that transformation by making ethical performance visible, comparable, and actionable. We believe that transparency creates accountability, and that accountability creates change.

Our mission is to provide the most rigorous, publicly available ethical intelligence on industrial companies — so that capital flows to companies doing the hard work of genuine modernisation, not just those best at greenwashing.

The EcoIQ Framework

Every EcoIQ score is built from six dimensions, each grounded in a different aspect of long-term ethical value creation. The framework draws on principles of public stewardship, responsible governance, and evidence-based improvement that have proven durable across economies and cultures.

Emissions reduction, pollution control, biodiversity impact, water stewardship
🤝
Public Benefit

Ethical Intelligence Layer

The EcoIQ Mizan Engine

EcoIQ does not only ask whether a project reduces emissions. It asks whether the transition is transparent, balanced, fair, evidence-based and beneficial to society.

The Mizan Engine is EcoIQ's ethical assessment layer — a structured evaluation that sits beneath the headline score and asks deeper questions about how transition activity creates or destroys value for people, communities, and future generations. Every company profile is evaluated across six dimensions:

🤝
Public Benefit
Does the company genuinely serve society — creating quality jobs, supporting regional development, and delivering infrastructure that communities depend on?
🛡️
Harm Reduction
Is the company actively reducing its pollution footprint, managing controversy risk, and investing in cleaner processes — or is harm static or growing?
⚖️
Justice & Fair Distribution
Are the gains from transition distributed equitably across stakeholders — workers, communities, suppliers, and the public — or concentrated at the top?
📋
Transparency & Accountability
Does the company disclose its performance honestly, maintain audit quality, and hold itself accountable when claims are not met?
🌿
Stewardship
Is the company managing natural, financial, and human capital as a long-term custodian — or extracting maximum short-term value at future cost?
🔬
Evidence Confidence
How reliable is the underlying data? EcoIQ distinguishes verified, analyst-reviewed, and AI-seeded profiles — and flags confidence level on every score.
Compatible with ethical finance frameworks. The Mizan Engine's principles — public benefit, harm reduction, fair distribution, transparency, and long-term stewardship — align with the foundational requirements of responsible investment, development finance, and capital allocation frameworks focused on equitable and sustainable outcomes. EcoIQ is designed for institutions that evaluate not just financial return, but the broader impact of capital on society.

Our Principles

EcoIQ's design is guided by five commitments we hold to be non-negotiable, regardless of commercial pressure:

Protect Life We will not rate a company highly if it harms the health of workers, communities, or ecosystems. Harm signals reduce scores — there is no offset.
Honest Evidence Every score dimension is sourced from verifiable public information. We flag confidence levels and distinguish AI-generated analysis from verified data.
Long-term Resilience We reward companies building durable, sustainable businesses — not those optimising short-term profit at the expense of future generations.
Public Benefit Priority Companies that serve communities well, create quality jobs, and contribute to societal progress are rewarded. Narrow profit maximisation is insufficient.
No Greenwashing We penalise companies that make public commitments but fail to show evidence of action. Words without data do not improve scores.

The Founder

EcoIQ was founded in London to address a gap that became impossible to ignore: the world's most polluting industries were being evaluated by financial metrics alone. Transition was discussed in policy papers but rarely quantified at the company level.

Alizhan Tazabekov

Founder & Lead Analyst

Alizhan built EcoIQ after recognising that industrial transition requires both rigorous data and an ethical framework that goes beyond carbon accounting. The platform combines his background in industrial systems analysis with a commitment to building tools that serve the public interest — not just shareholders.

What EcoIQ Is Not

We are not an ESG rating agency. Traditional ESG ratings serve financial disclosure. EcoIQ scores ethical performance and industrial transition readiness. These are related but distinct.

We are not a consultancy. We do not accept payment from companies to improve their scores. All scoring is conducted independently, based on publicly available evidence.

We are not infallible. EcoIQ scores are AI-assisted and indicative. They are built from public information, which is often incomplete. We display confidence levels and encourage companies to submit corrections through our profile claim process.
